Ref:   Judges 6:1-24

For the fourth time Israel sinned, and God handed them over to their enemies, this time to the Midianites (6:1). God chastens His people’s sins. The familiar pattern of sin followed-by-chastening continued in Israel (see 3:7, 12; 4:1)  read on

S. I. McMillen, in his book "None of These Diseases," tells a story of a young woman who wanted to go to college, but her heart sank when she read the question on the blank application that asked, "Are you a leader?" Being both honest and conscientious, she wrote, "No," and returned the application, expecting the worst. To her surprise, she received this letter from the college: "Congratulations, you are accepted in this seminary! There were about 1,452 new leaders enrolled in this seminary this Academic year and we decided to include at least 1 follower."    read on

“FOR” LIFE CHANGING WORDS  by J. Santos

Ref:   Philippians 3:13-14

A mouse looked through the crack in the wall to see the farmer and his wife open a package. "What food might this contain?" The mouse wondered - he was devastated to discover it was a mousetrap. Retreating to the farmyard, the mouse proclaimed the warning. "There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!" The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head and said, "Mr. Mouse, I can tell this is a grave concern to you, but it is of no consequence to Me.; I cannot be bothered by it." The mouse turned to the pig and told him, "There is a mousetrap in the house!   read on

HOW GOD BUILDS A SERVANT-LEADER

Ref: 1 Samuel 16:14-16, 23

At one point in his life, King Saul had been used of the Lord to accomplish great things. Yet, these verses find the king living through desperate days. Because of Saul's rebellion, God removed His Spirit from the king and allowed an evil spirit to torment him. Saul was gripped by depression, v. 23, and violent mood swings, 1 Sam. 18:8-12; 19:9-10. In an effort to help their master, Saul's servants suggested that he find someone who was skilled on the harp. It was thought that music might calm the spirit of King Saul, v. 16. It has been said that, ¡§music hath charms to soothe the savage beast, and apparently it worked with Saul, v. 23. It is against this backdrop of depression, madness and spiritual tragedy that David is once again thrust onto the stage.  read on

Have you ever thought about your faith being a living, growing thing? Did you know that God has a destination for your faith? There is a kind of faith that God hates, and there is a kind of faith that God loves. Each of us has been given a measure of faith, and we must realize what we have done with it.

AND THE WIND CEASED  by J. Santos

Ref: Mark 6:45-54

Illustration:

Little girl: "I need someone with skin on me."

Sometimes life gets tough! It can get messy fast and, sometimes, there seems to be no end to it and no end to how bad it can get. During these times we need a God we can feel too! Of all the promises Jesus gave us: Heaven, eternal life, rapture, etc.; probably among the most meaningful are those where He says, "I will never leave thee", Heb. 13:5; "Lo I am with you always", Matt. 28:20; and "I will not leave you comfortless, I will come to you.", John 14:18. When life stinks, and it does often, we have our Lord with us to help us and guide us through. This truth is demonstrated in these verses.

GO AND BEAR FRUIT!

"I CHOSE YOU AND APPOINTED YOU SO THAT YOU WOULD GO AND BEAR FRUIT."
At the time Jesus spoke it, He knew His time is running out, but He still had much that he wanted to share with His disciples before he leave. In this few hours of life He remains in this world, He taught every important thing with His disciples in the upper room.
First, Jesus had told that He was the "life" {John 14:6}. Second, He said that the Holy Spirit, the "allon parakleton" is coming with the same strength to be in them {John 14:16-18}. And after that, He said "I am the true vine."

God’s help in difficult times

Ref:1 Kings 17

I am getting tired of watching television. I mean I use to be a TVholic. Now the movies are lousy. The programs stink. And the News! They are keeping us in the dark relative to key news and feeding us worthless information. I am sick and tired of hearing about which new celebrity is going to a rehab clinic. If it weren’t for the sports programs I would throw the thing out. It use to be in the old days that false prophets would just lie and say everything is great instead of warning the people of upcoming judgment. Now the media just keeps everybody in the dark as to that’s happening. Here are a few things that I have discovered just from other news sources that are about to happen and will impact you greatly. See if you know any information about them.   read on

After Shock   by Jerry Shirley

Ref: Matthew 14:22-33

How do we respond? What should our reaction be? When our world shakes, when we are in shock – after it happens – after shock has gripped our being – what we do next is absolutely vital. The earthquake in Haiti measured 7.0 – the death toll will be measured in the tens of thousands – but character is measured in the response to the tragedy. You see, we all are shaken at times, and sometimes in a powerful way that leaves us quaking and crumbled.   read on

The Call of Christianity  by D. Sanders

Ref: Romans 12:1-2

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. One of the problems with the world today is they are selfish.
"What is in it for me!"
